Communal clash over love-affair involving people from different communities

This all started when a teenager from a particular community, resident of Badaun, had come to Dehradun to meet her boyfriend. The girl belongs to the Muslim community, while the young man is a Hindu and works in Selaqui.

In the evening, when the teenager called her boyfriend to the railway station, people of both the communities gathered in large numbers at the station. This has led to communal clashes between two groups. Meanwhile, some people from one side started pelting stones. This created chaos outside the railway station. The rioters pelted stones at the police as well and the policemen somehow saved themselves. A young man was injured in the stone pelting and many vehicles were damaged.

Rioters vandalised more than 10 vehicles

Amid this outrage, the rioters also vandalized more than 10 vehicles. As soon as the information was received, police officers reached the spot with heavy force. The police somehow tried to convince both the parties, meanwhile there was a lot of tension between the parties. After this incident which continued for about two hours, the police resorted to lathi charge and only then the situation came under control.
