IMD predictions for snowfall

High-altitude zones of the famous hill-station Chakrata and other places like Lokhandi and Koti Kanasar experienced snowfall in the morning. If the weather persists, there is a possibility of heavy snowfall at night. The IMD has forecasted rain and snowfall in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, and other districts, including mountainous areas of Dehradun. Meteorologists predict a drop in temperature across the state due to the rain and snowfall in high-altitude areas, potentially leading to a cold wave in the plains.

Year 2024 may bid farewell amid snowfall

While discussing upcoming weather events, IMD, Dehradun can also see the possibility of a white farewell for the year 2024 on 31 December. According to the IMD, western disturbances will bring rain and snowfall on December 27. Weather scientist Rohit Thapliyal mentioned that these disturbances will become active on December 27, leading to rain across the state and snowfall in higher hills on December 27-28. Light rain and snowfall are expected in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, and Bageshwar on December 24. The weather forecast for New Year’s Eve on December 31 will be clearer in the next two to three days.
