New Delhi: Former US National Security Advisor John Bolton reacted to President Donald Trump claiming credit for the recent ceasefire between India and Pakistan, terming it as “Trump being Trump”. Bolton further observed that it’s Trump’s habit of taking credit for everything.
Speaking to the news agency ANI, Bolton said that Trump’s claim was “nothing personal to India”. This is Donald Trump, who takes credit for everything.” Pointing out that Trump might have spoken to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he added, “I am sure other countries might also be calling to see what they can do. It is typical of Trump because he would jump in before everyone could take credit. But it’s nothing against India. It’s just Trump being Trump”.
The US President’s tendency to swoop in like this may well be irritating, and that too, for many people, he said. “But it’s nothing against India,” he reiterated, adding that “It’s just Trump being Trump”.
Trump claimed credit earlier too
Recently, Trump claimed credit for the ceasefire between India and Pakistan after tensions increased between both countries after the April 22 Pahalgam terror, in which 26 people lost their lives and several others were injured. Soon after India launched Operation Sindoor targeting the error locations of LeT, JeM, and HM., Close to 100 terrorists were killed.
Following this, Pakistan tried to target India’s installations with numerous drone attacks, only to be thwarted by the Indian armed forces. As the tensions increased, Trump took to social media announcing a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. He also claimed the US role in the negotiation. On Wednesday, too, while interacting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, the US President once again claimed to have played a role in a ceasefire.
