Vijayapura: At least six people were killed while two others suffered injuries in a multi-vehicle collision on National Highway 50 in Karnataka’s Managuli on Wednesday. The incident happened when an SUV collided with a private bus and a container after crossing the median on the highway.
According to reports, five occupants in the SUV and the driver of the bus died on the spot.
The deceased were identified as T Bhaskaran Malakanthan, his wife Pavitra, their son Abhiram, and daughter Josna–all from Gadwal in Telengana. The SUV driver, Vikas Shivappa Makani and the bus driver, Basavaraj Rathod, were from Horthi and Kalguatgi Tanda, respectively.
SUV crosses median, rams into vehicles
Bhaskaran’s son Praveen Tej was admitted to the hospital with injuries. The container driver, Channabasu Siddappa Mali, is a resident of Hulajanti, sustained minor injuries. Bhaskaran was a manager at Canara Bank’s Horthi Branch. The family was on a tour when the tragic incident took place.
The SUV crossed the median, and rammed into the private bus which then crashed into the container parked in the lane. The bodies for post-mortem and the traffic was cleared.
