The left-arm pacer can become the highest wicket-taker in T20I format in a single year. Arshdeep has played 14 T20I matches this year and picked up 28 wickets at an economy rate of 7.14. He also played a crucial role in India’s successive T20 World Cup 2024 campaign.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar is currently the highest wicket-taker and has taken 37 wickets in 32 T20I matches at a brilliant economy rate of 6.98 and Arshdeep is in the second position after he picked up 33 wickets in 21 matches at an economy rate of 8.17. He has a chance to break Bhuvneshwar’s record in the upcoming four-match T20 series against South Africa.

Arshdeep will become India’s leading wicket-taker in Men’s T20Is

He is placed fourth on the list of most wickets taken by the Indian bowler in the Men’s T20I. In 56 T20I matches, the left-arm pacer has taken 87 wickets at an economy of 8.28 with two four-wicket hauls and if he manages to take 10 or more wickets in the upcoming T20I series against the Proteas, he will become India’s leading wicket-taker in the shortest format.

He needs 13 wickets to become only the second Indian cricketer after Deepti Sharma to take 100 wickets in T20Is. He has picked up 12 wickets in eight ODI matches and is yet to make his debut in Tests for India. The first T20I of South Africa series is scheduled to take place on Friday, November 8 at the Kingsmead in Durban.
