RG Kar Medical College case: SC seeks fresh status report by CBI by next Tuesday

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday (September 9) directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to furnish a fresh status report in the investigation of the rape and death of a woman doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital by next Tuesday.

A bench comprising Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra was hearing a suo motu cognisance of the rape and murder of a 31-year-old woman doctor at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, which has sparked a nationwide protest against the ghastly incident.

“It appears the investigation is in progress. Let CBI furnish a fresh status report by next Tuesday. Let us see what happens from now till then. We are not asking what line of investigation they (CBI) have to adopt,” the bench said.
