New Delhi: Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani died in a plane crash on Thursday. The Air India plane on which the BJP leader was travelling to London, crashed soon after take off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The tragedy occurred on June 12.
Rupani’s tryst with number 1206
It is worth noting the numerical coincidence behind Rupani’s death. According to a report in the Republic, the BJP leader had a special connection with the number 1206. All his personal vehicles bore this number plate.
Ironically the plane crash occurred on this very date, 12/06 (June 12). However this was not the only co-incidence with the Gujarat leader. His seat number on the flight was also 12 and he boarded the flight at 12:10 pm.
Netizens reacted to the irony. One user wrote, “He lived with 1206 on every car. He left the world on 12/06. When numbers turn into dates, and dates into destiny. The universe doesn’t always whisper. Sometimes, it screams.”
Another user pointed out, “1206 = 9, Flight AI 171 = 9”. Following such reactions, the internet was flooded with eerie reactions, apart from tributes to the departed soul.
The former Gujarat CM was among the 241 passengers killed in the tragic aviation accident. The BJP expressed grief at his passing. The state president of the party, CR Patil called his passing “an irreplaceable loss to the party and the state.”
Soon after the plane crash, Union Home Minister Amit Shah flew to Ahmedabad. PM Narendra Modi is also scheduled to visit the city on Friday. NDRF has been pressed into service and the crash site has been sealed by the administration.
