Kolkata: The father of the deceased doctor, who was allegedly raped and murdered in the seminar room of the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9, has urged the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to save the call records of his daughter’s phone and to secure the CCTV footage at the hospital.

The father of the victim has informed the CBI that his daughter had talked with him over the phone a few hours before her death on August 9 and has urged the CBI to save the call record as well as to secure the CCTV footage at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, primarily those on the floor of the seminar hall, where the body of his daughter was found on August 9.

Father of deceased doctor has also requested CBI to recover duty chart of August 8 night

According to news agency PTI, the father, in his two-page letter to the agency, has expressed his “helplessness and anxiety” over the investigation of his daughter’s death mystery and has also requested the officers of the agency to recover the duty chart of August 8 night to find out who all were on duty on that August 8 night along with his daughter. The letter has also told the agency that several interns and physicians from the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital might have been involved in the crime.

“The father of the deceased wrote a letter to us with a request that we save the call records,” the CBI source told news agency PTI.

Supreme Court earlier this week directed CBI to look into suggestions given by father of deceased doctor

Earlier this week, the Supreme Court, which has taken a suo motu cognisance of the rape and murder of the 31-year-old woman doctor, has asked the CBI to look into the suggestions given by the father of the deceased doctor on the leads that should be taken up for investigation.

The rape and murder of the woman doctor on August 9 at the seminar room of the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital sparked nationwide protests.

Calcutta High Court transferred investigation of case from Kolkata Police to CBI

The Calcutta High Court transferred the investigation of the case from the Kolkata Police to the CBI on a bunch of pleas that sought a court-monitored investigation into the case as well as an investigation into the conduct of the hospital authorities, including the role of Sandip Ghosh, then RG Kar Medical College and Hospital principal, and other officials by a special team of investigating officers.

Who have been arrested in connection with the case?

A civic volunteer, Sanjay Roy, was arrested in connection with the case the following day. Later, Ghosh and Abhijit Mondal, Tala police station officer in charge, have also been arrested by the CBI in connection with the case. Ghosh has also been arrested by the CBI in alleged financial irregularities at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital during his tenure as principal.
