New Delhi: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Ratan Tata and described him as “one of the Navratnas of our country”. Pradhan fondly recalled his interactions with Tata, praising his humility and affectionate nature. “Ratan Tata was a very simple, ordinary, and very affectionate person,” he said.

Pradhan acknowledged the significant loss Tata’s passing represents for the nation. He highlighted the importance of his guidance and ideas for policymakers. “The country has suffered a loss with his death. His thoughts, suggestions and guidance are definitely important for all of us, the policymakers of the country,” he said.

As the nation mourns Tata’s demise, Pradhan expressed his hope that Tata’s values and ideas will continue to inspire India’s development. “We will definitely miss Ratan Tata ji. I pray to God that the values and ideas that Ratan Tata ji carried may those thoughts remain relevant in the development of our country,” he said.

Nation bids aidieu

The mortal remains of Ratan Tata were transported to the Worli crematorium from the NCPA lawns at Nariman Point in Mumbai, where they had been made available for public viewing. Amit Shah, the Union home minister, paid his respects to the esteemed industrialist on behalf of the Government of India. Ratan Tata, the former chairman of the Tata Group, who played a pivotal role in transforming the company into India’s largest and most influential conglomerate, passed away at the age of 86. He died at Breach Candy Hospital in South Mumbai at 11:30 pm on Wednesday, after a stay in intensive care since Monday.
