New Delhi: A sea of devotees thronged at the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Temple in Ayodhya on Sunday on the auspicious day of Ram Navami, marking the birth of Lord Ram. Many worshippers from the state of Uttar Pradesh and across the country made it to the holy city.
In order to ensure the safety of crowds and control the large gatherings at the temple, the authorities deployed drone surveillance to keep an eye on the situation. This was just an additional move other than increasing the security in the city.
“As you can see that on the occasion of Rama Navami, a huge number of devotees have come to Ayodhya. We have divided the field into various zones where seniors, and other police personnel have been give duty round the clock. Apart from that, in terms of technological point of view, we have controls in yellow zones and red zones,” said Raj Karan Nayyar, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Ayodhya.
“We are also keeping a watch through drones and T-third drones. We are controlling the crowd and maintaining safety protocols through the visuals of drones and T-third drones,” he added.
The ritual Surya Tilak ceremony took place at 12:00 pm on Sunday when the sunlight touched the forehead of Lord Ram’s statue. This ceremony is held annually, wherein the mirror and lense-based apparatus are used to channelise the sunrays on the statue. It generates a virtual tilak, which is also called as Surya Abhishek.
The temple was also decorated with flowers and lights, and young girls represented the nine forms of goddess Durga. The devotees were offered prasad and gifts, and many of them also took a dip in the Saryu River before entering the temple.
The festival of Ram Navami is celebrated across India on the final day of Chaitra Navaratri.
