New Delhi: In a horrifying hit and run incident that has been caught live on car’s rear camera, a 62-year old man lost his life after being struck by a speeding Bolero in the Chala village of Neem ka Thana, Sikar district. The accident took place on the evening of May 30 and the chilling video surfaced online on Tuesday.
The deceased, Subhash Joshi, a resident of Chala and owner of a local brick kiln, was crossing the rural Chaukdi road after buying milk when the accident took place.
As he was returning to his home, the Bolero SUV, travelling at an insurmountable high speed, hit him with such impact that he was flung approximately 12 feet into the air before crashing on the road. Joshi sustained several injuries and was immediately rushed to Kapil Hospital in Neem Ka Thana where the doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The shocking video shows the Bolero overtaking three vehicles before ramming into the pedestrian. Subhash Joshi is seen falling headfirst onto the road. The driver momentarily slows down but flees the scene without offering any help.
Station House Officer Rajesh Dudi confirmed the details stating that the accused drier has been identified as Pankaj (35), son of Subhash, based on the vehicle’s registration number. Joshi’s son has filed an FIR alleging negligent and reckless driving.
This incident has sparked outrage among the people in the nearby localities. There are demands for stricter regulations and for the enforcement of better safety standards for pedestrians.
The police are continuing their investigation. They have further assured that the accused culprit will be apprehended soon.
