Railways cancels dozens of trains in view of Maha Kumbh stampede deaths | Full list here

Gorakhpur: Following the stampede incident at Prayagraj Kumbh Mela, North Eastern Railway on Wednesday canceled and rescheduled several trains. The railway administration cited unavoidable operational reasons for these cancellations and schedule changes.

At least 30 people died and 60 were injured in a stampede at Sangam area of Maha Kumbh. The tragedy took place as crores of pilgrims rushed to take a holy dip on Mauni Amavasya.

Additionally, several special trains between Barauni, Darbhanga and Delhi will remain canceled on multiple dates in January and February 2025. The affected trains include:

• 02563 Barauni-New Delhi Special Train (cancelled on January 29-31 and February 1-5, 11-14, 25-28)
• 02564 New Delhi-Barauni Special Train (cancelled on January 29-31 and February 1-5, 11-14, 25-28)
• 02569 Darbhanga-New Delhi Special Train (cancelled on January 29-31 and February 1-5, 11-14, 25-28)
• 02570 New Delhi-Darbhanga Special Train (cancelled on January 29-31 and February 1-5, 11-14, 25-28)

Trains between Ballia and Anand Vihar Terminal will also be affected, with 04055 Ballia-Anand Vihar Terminal Special Train canceled on January 30, February 13, and February 27, and 04056 Anand Vihar Terminal-Ballia Special Train canceled on January 29, February 5, 12, and 26.

In addition to these cancellations, 12670 Chhapra-Chennai Central Express was rescheduled by 300 minutes on January 29.
