New Delhi: In a major counter-espionage operation, the Amritsar Rural Police have arrested two individuals for their alleged involvement in leaking sensitive information and photographs of army cantonment areas and air bases in Amritsar. The accused, identified as Palak Sher Masih and Suraj Masih, were taken into custody on Saturday.
According to Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, the preliminary investigation has revealed that the duo maintained links with Pakistani intelligence operatives. These connections were reportedly facilitated through Harpreet Singh, alias Pittu, also known as Happy, who is currently lodged in Amritsar Central Jail.

Case registered under Official Secrets Act
A case has been registered under the Official Secrets Act, and the investigation is ongoing. “Further critical revelations are expected as the probe deepens,” news agency PTI quoted Yadav as saying.
In an official post on social media platform ‘X’, the Punjab DGP reaffirmed the state’s commitment to safeguarding national security. “Punjab Police stands strong with the Indian Army and remains unwavering in its duty to protect national interests. Any attempt to undermine the security of our armed forces will be met with firm and immediate action,” the statement read.
