Mahoba: A dramatic incident unfolded in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh, when a married woman, Aradhana, insisted on leaving her husband to live with her online lover, whom she met while playing a mobile game. The situation escalated to the point that it had to be handled by the police and presented before the SDM court.
The incident began when Shivam, a young man from Ludhiana, Punjab, arrived at Aradhana’s in-laws’ house in Mahoba. Shivam reportedly had an argument with Aradhana’s husband, Sheelu, following which the police were informed. The police detained Shivam and booked him under preventive measures for disturbing peace.
However, as the police took him to the tehsil for legal proceedings, Aradhana too reached the tehsil office and declared that she wanted to go with Shivam. Her husband and family members tried to convince her to return home, but she remained firm in her decision.
Aradhana, a resident of Banda’s Mataundh area, had married Sheelu in May 2022. The couple even has a one-and-a-half-year-old son. But things changed when Aradhana got hooked on the Free Fire mobile game. It was while playing the game that she came in contact with Shivam, and their online friendship soon turned into a love affair.
Sheelu claimed that his wife had earlier gone to Delhi to meet Shivam, and now Shivam came directly to their home in Mahoba. He alleged that his wife was choosing her lover over the family, and he now plans to divorce her. In contrast, Aradhana accused her husband of being an alcoholic who beat her regularly, and she said that she no longer wants to stay with him.
Shivam, on his part, said that he and Aradhana had been in love for 14 months and that she had called him recently saying she was being abused. He claimed that he came to Mahoba only on her request and was shocked to be handed over to the police. He expressed his desire to live with Aradhana and even said he would raise her child as his own.
