‘Precision, selection of warheads, technology to avoid collateral damages’: Army, IAF share details of Operation Sindoor

New Delhi: Colonel Sofiya Qureshi on Wednesday said that Operation Sindoor was launched to give justice to the victims and their families. Addressing the media, she said that the strikes began at 1.05 am on May 7 and lasted for about 25 minutes. She said that 21 targets across 9 locations were hit based on credible intelligence about their involvement in cross-border terrorism.

The Indian Armed Forces have carried out Operation Sindoor to respond to the recent Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali tourist. In a joint operation by the Army, Navy, and Air Force, nine terrorist camps were targeted and destroyed in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Terror camps targeted

The operation targeted camps linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. Among the camps destroyed was the Sawai Nala camp, hit first during the operation. The strike also hit Sarjal camp in Sialkot, which housed a Hizbul Mujahideen training base.

Col Qureshi clarified that no military installations in Pakistan were targeted, and no civilian casualties have been reported. The selection of targets was done with care to avoid any damage to civilian infrastructure or lives.

Wing Commander Vyomika Singh added that the operation was planned to ensure the safety of civilians while delivering a strong message to terror groups. She said, “The Indian Armed Forces acted with precision and responsibility.”
