PM Modi to inaugurate redeveloped railway stations in Telangana tomorrow

New Delhi: Since Narendra Modi assumed the office as Prime Minister, the country has been advancing with rapid development across several sectors. Unlike the past, the focus today is on placing India at the forefront of the global stage — a goal that is being steadily achieved by pushing ahead with world-class, competitive development across key domains. This vision is taking India closer to becoming a Viksit Bharat. One of the sectors witnessing this transformation is Indian Railways — where, due to the farsighted vision of our dynamic PM Shri Narendra Modi ji, the past 11 years have seen massive improvements and advanced infrastructure planning.

Currently, railway development works worth Rs 42,219 crore are underway in Telangana. In this year’s railway budget alone, Rs 5,337 crore was allocated to Telangana — which is 20 times more than the budgetary allocation for the state in 2014–15.

One of the prominent railway development initiatives is the redevelopment of railway stations. Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, PM Narendra Modi Ji launched the redevelopment of more than 1,300 railway stations across the country in August 2023, with a projected outlay of ₹1 lakh crore. The aim is to make these stations ready to cater to the needs of passengers over the next 30–40 years. In Telangana alone, 40 railway stations are being redeveloped at an estimated cost of ₹2,750 crore, and the work is progressing rapidly.

The 103 redeveloped railway stations — built to international standards with state-of-the-art passenger amenities — will be inaugurated virtually by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, 22 May 2025.

Among these, Begumpet, Karimnagar, and Warangal railway stations from Telangana will also be inaugurated. Notably, Begumpet Railway Station will be operated entirely by women staff. Union Minister for Coal and Mines Shri G. Kishan Reddy will participate in the inaugural ceremony of the Begumpet station.

All redevelopment works are being carried out in a way that reflects the culture and traditions of the local regions through the façade and station buildings. Additionally, various passenger-centric facilities like footpaths, wide overbridges, lifts, escalators, waiting halls, booking offices, toilets, and digital signage boards are being built as part of the upgrades.
