Singapore: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on a two-day visit to Singapore, on Friday met PM Lawrence Wong and held talks on boosting bilateral ties. Earlier, PM Modi was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the Singapore Parliament. The Indian PM also signed the visitor’s book there.

In the presence of PM Modi and his Singaporean counterpart, several MoUs were signed between both the nations. The agreements were signed in the fields of Digital Technologies, India-Singapore Semiconductor Ecosystem, Health and Medicine, and the Educational Cooperation & Skills Development.

The meeting comes months after PM Modi returned to power for the thirds time after winning Lok Sabha elections in May this year, while Wong took over as premier weeks ago.

PM Modi is also scheduled to call on President Tharman Shanmugaratnam later in the day.

As part of his schedule, PM Modi is also likely to meet Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong later in the day over the lunch.

In a move to enhance bilateral cooperation in the field of semiconductor ecosystem, PM Modi will also interact with Singaporean business leaders in this field and visit a semiconductor manufacturing facility there.

On Wednesday, Modi got a warm welcome by the Indian community after arriving at the hotel in Singapore. At the hotel, PM Modi was also seen taking part in the celebrations organsied to welcomes him by the Indian community. The PM also tried his hand at dhol.

In a post on social media platform X, PM Modi thanked people of Indian community for the vibrant welcomes. In the

“Thank you Singapore! The welcome was truly vibrant,” Modi said in another post.

Later in the night, PM Modi attended a dinner with his Singaporean counterpart at Sri Temasek bungalow. In the visit PM Modi is also accompanied by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and NSA Ajit Doval.
