Mumbai: Ahead of the November 20 Assembly elections in Maharashtra and the recent incident concerning the law and order situation, the Mumbai Police have issued a security alert citing potential threats by terrorists or anti-national elements eyeing to use aerial objects to launch attacks.

Citing threats by such individuals deploying drones, remote-controlled microlight aircraft, paragliders, paramotors, hand gliders, and hot air balloons to launch attacks, the police have stepped up security in the state capital, especially in sensitive and VVIP areas and persons besides public places or critical infrastructure.

To prevent any incidents, the police have imposed a ban on the use of these aerial devices within the city limits. Additionally, hotels, guest houses, and lodges have been advised to carefully scrutinise documents of any suspicious individuals checking in.
