PKL 11: Tamil Thalaivas beat Puneri Paltan, U Mumba secure first win of season

New Delhi: The Tamil Thalaivas defeated Puneri Paltan with a brilliant all-round performance to register a superb win at the GMCB Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday. The Thalaivas won the match with a scoreline of 35-30, ending the Puneri Paltans’ unbeaten streak of 14 matches.

The Tamil Thalaivas took a 5-point lead within the first five minutes of the match. Narender Kandola and Nitesh Kumar played brilliantly and did most of the damage to the opposition. But Mohit Goyat secured quick points and brought Puneri Paltan back into the game.

Sachin inflicted an all-out on the Puneri Paltan in the first half of the game and helped the Thalaivas to extend their lead. Sachin and Narender Kandola were the star performers for the Tamil Thalaivas, while it was Mohit Goyat who was leading the defending champions from the front. At the half-time break, the Tamil Thalaivas took the four-point lead with a scoreline of 19-15.

The Tamil Thalaivas made a great star in the second half and had great momentum with them in the initial part of the second half. But the Puneri Paltan side fought hard and clawed their way back into the match. With the second half reaching the midway stage, the Tamil Thalaivas’ lead had been brought down to 4 points, and Mohit Goyat also secured 10 points in the match.

But Tamil Thalaivas inflicted another all-out few minutes before the full-time and extended their lead to an 8-point. After that, the Thalaivas consolidated their lead with Sachin playing a crucial role for his team. They played brilliantly in the final minutes and won their second match of the season.

U Mumba beat Gujarat Giants

In the second game of the day, U Mumba beat Gujarat Giants with a scoreline of 33-27. Amirmohammad Zafardanesh put in a great performance for his team and helped them pick up their first points of the season.

The match was a close win and both sides fought hard against each other. Manjeet led the charge for U Mumba and helped them to take a three-point lead in the midway stage of the first half. But Himanshu brought his team back in the match with a super tackle. At the end of the first half, U Mumba led 14-13.

Amirmohammad Zafardanesh inflicted an all-out in the initial phase of the second half to give his team a lead. He also reached his 10-point mark in the game as U Mumba began to consolidate their lead. Gujarat Giants tried their best but U Mumba won their first match of the season.
