Kolkata: In a major incident, Major Syed Moiz Abbas Shah, a 37-year-old officer in the Pakistan Army who reportedly captured Indian Air Force Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman following the Balakot airstrikes in 2019 has been killed in an encounter with the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in south Waziristan region. The Pakistani Media has reported the incident.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, the media and public relations wing of the Pakistan Armed Forces, the security forces of the country eliminated 11 terrorists during an intelligence-based operation conducted in South Waziristan’s Sararogha. During the encounter, Major Syed Moiz Abbas Shah was killed along with Lance Naik Jibran Ullah. The Pakistani forces have launched an operation in the region to eliminate other terrorists.
Ajit Doval meets Chinese Foreign Minister to counter-terrorism
NSA Ajit Doval took a veiled dig at Pakistan and its support of cross-border terrorist activities during his recent visit to China. He emphasised the need to counter terrorism in all its forms for regional peace and stability during a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing.
Notably, Doval’s call comes nearly a month-and-a-half after India executed Operation Sindoor in which our Armed Forces destroyed nine terrorist bases in Pakistani territories on May 7 as a retaliation to the Pahalgam terrorist attack that killed 26 civilians. Doval, who visited China to attend a conclave of top national security officials of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s member nations.
