The swift and decisive action, a response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack, has galvanised a united front across the political spectrum.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed the nation’s sentiment briefly on X (formerly Twitter), posting a “Bharat Mata Ki Jai!” (Long Live Mother India), a simple yet powerful message of national pride and support for the military.

Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi and Aam Aadmi Party leader, voiced the pride of 140 crore Indians in their brave soldiers, emphasising the unwavering support of the nation in the fight against terrorism. Operation Sindoor involved airstrikes targeting nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. Monitored by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, the operation specifically focused on infrastructure linked to the Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist organisations, including sites in Muridke, Bahawalpur, Muzaffarabad, and Kotli.
The Indian government maintained that no Pakistani military facilities were targeted. Pakistan’s retaliatory artillery fire across the Line of Control (LOC), however, resulted in reported civilian casualties. As a precaution, several Indian airports were temporarily closed to civilian air traffic. India also proactively briefed several key international partners, including the US, UK, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, on the details of the operation.
