NSG commandos to take over anti-terror operation in Jammu division, MHA issues order

New Delhi: The National Security Guard (NSG) commandos will now be deployed in counter terror operations in Jammu division. The orders comes following an order from Ministry of Home Affairs to deploy NSG commandos in anti-terror operations in Jammu.

Recently, there has been a spurt in terror attacks in Jammu division that led to killing of several security personnel. There are reports of some foreign terrorists with US made arms operating in the dense forests.

NSG unit to be deployed in Jammu

The NSG unit will be based in Jammu city. A security plan is being devised to deploy NSG commandos on high-rise buildings, security installations, and sensitive public areas. The move is aimed at enabling swift action by NSG in case of any terrorist act.

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has called in National Security Guard commandos in Jammu
after a series of terror attacks on security forces in various districts of the Jammu region.
There are also reports that terrorists may target the city area.

Earlier, NSG commandos used to be flown in from Delhi or Chandigarh in case of any security situation which used to take a lot of time. With the fresh move, the commandos would be readily available in Jammu city itself.
