New Delhi: Hyderabad MP and AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday called Pakistan-supported terrorists “murderers in the name of jihad”. Owaisi strongly appealed for a campaign that should be launched globally to dismantle The Resistance Front (TRF), which was involved in the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
During an all-party meeting which was chaired by defence minister Rajnath Singh, Owaisi hailed Operation Sindoor that was carried out to destroy terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
After the crucial meeting, Owaisi told reporters: “I complimented the armed forces and the government. But this must not stop at airstrikes. We must now take this fight to global forums, get the UN Security Council, the US, and UK to designate TRF as a terror organisation and sanction Pakistan.”
“In February, Hafiz Abdur Rauf delivered a speech in PoK that we want to do jihad this year. They want to murder and spread terror in the name of jihad. These are not freedom fighters, they are murderers. Pakistan must be put on the grey list of FATF,” Owaisi added, referring to the global anti-terror financing watchdog.
‘Centre has a historic opportunity’
The AIMIM chief underlined that the Centre has a historic chance, and it should confront Pakistan while drawing Kashmiris closer. “Civilians were killed in Poonch and people lost their homes in Uri. The government must identify them as victims of terror, provide them compensation and rebuild their homes,” he pointed out.

In a significant statement, Owaisi also reacted to international speculation regarding reports of a Rafale jet being downed in Bathinda. He said, “The IAF should quickly clarify and refute these claims if they are untrue, in order to maintain morale.”
In his meeting with representatives of different political parties, Rajnath Singh said that Operation Sindoor is an ongoing exercise. He pointed out that even though India does not want to escalate the situation at this point, it will give a befitting reply if Pakistan strikes.
