Massive traffic on Mumbai-Goa highway due to 2025 New Year celebrations

Massive traffic was witnessed on the Mumbai-Goa highway as the revellers headed for New Year celebrations to Goa and Mumbai. The highway is facing the additional congestion due to extra rush of vehicles along with ongoing road maintenance work on the highway.

An official said on Monday that a large numbers of revellers are heading to Goa and Lalbaug in Maharashtra’s Raigad for New Year celebration. The heavy traffic was also witnessed at Mangaon, Lonere, Indapur Poinad near Mumbai on Monday.

Traffic also disrupted due to road construction

Several other roads are also facing traffic rush due to road construction work. The official said that extra police personnel have been deployed to clear traffic congestion on the highway, said a report in PTI.

Goa police arrangements

Meanwhile, Goa Police have made arrangements to ensure the New Year celebration go peacefully and without any incident. The police have also informed that they conducted a special drive and arrested at least 25 agents and touts for advertising questionable services and venues for the tourists.

Thousands of tourists are expected to converge in Goa to celebrate New Year 2025. Bollywod celebrities including Urvashi Rautela, Manaara Chopra among others are expected to enthrall visitors at different events in the state, reported Hindustan Times.

North Goa superintendent of police (SP) Akshat Kaushal says a special drive has been initiated by Tourist Police and Calangute police station in view of New Year celebrations and to save tourists from touts and agents who planned to fleece them. He said police are making all efforts to maintain law and order in Calangute area and making sure tourists enjoy without any incidents.
