New Delhi: In Patna, a 22-year-old woman has died by suicide after she recorded a video where she explained her decision. She made the video on her mobile phone and the incident took place in Pandarak police station area under Barh subdivision of Patna district.
The deceased woman, identified as Guriya Kumari, was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her at the house of her in laws on the morning of May 30. The video, which lasts for 44 seconds, shows Guriya purportedly admitting to taking her life voluntarily, and she revealed to having no issues with her family or in-laws.
She said in the video, “I am giving up my life willingly. I do not want to live any more. For this reason, I am ending my life. If possible, please forgive me, dad, mom, mother-in-law and and father-in-law. You all loved me very much, yet I am doing this. My husband and brother-in-law are all very good.”
Guriya lived in Sheikhpura district’s Batohara village and married Santosh Kumar a year ago. Her husband works for a private company in Mumbai. On Thursday night, after having dinner with her family, she went to sleep in her room.
When she did not wake until late morning, the anxious family checked on her room and found Guriya hanging from the ceiling. The Pandarak police arrived at the scene after being informed by the family. According to Sadhana Kumari, Pandarak station house officer (SHO), the police found Guriya’s video after checking her mobile phone.
Kumari said, “The body has been handed over to the family after postmortem. She was mentally healthy and had no disputes with anyone. She was even invited to her cousin’s wedding on June 8 in in Sheikhpura, and was preparing to attend it. The matter is under investigation.”
