The man has also been arrested. Talking about the clauses under which he was booked, the investigating officer in-charge of the Bhanpura police station, told a news agency, “He has been arrested under Sections 296, 285, and 3(5) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Samhita. However, we are investigating the matter further, as we need to determine who made the video viral and the motive behind it. Even if the footage was captured on CCTV, those in possession of the clips must hand them over to the police. We also need to ascertain whether other individuals were involved in the crime.”

The police have so far not arrested the woman seen in the video. The police officer said that they are investigating the case and only based on the findings will a decision be taken, on what clauses of the law can the woman be booked. Police are also investigating if other people were involved in the entire act.

BJP denies links to Dhakad

The Bharatiya Janata Party meanwhile has denied any links to Dhakad. They dismissed talks about him belonging to the party. In fact the party claimed that he does not even hold primary membership.

BJP spokesperson, Yashpal Singh Sisodiya was quoted by NDTV as saying, “This is a highly objectionable and shameful act by the individual identified as Manohar Lal Dhakad and the woman. He is not even a primary member of the BJP. However, anyone can technically join the party by giving a ‘missed call’ to a designated mobile number.”

Mandsaur district BJP president Rajesh Dixit, also asserted that Dhakad was not a member of the party. Another outfit the Dhakad Mahasabha Yuva Sangh has also denounced his acts. The accused belongs to the Dhakad (Kirar) community.
