New Delhi: Former One Direction member Liam Payne tragically died after jumping from his hotel balcony in Buenos Aires on Wednesday (October 16). Initial reports suggested that the singer had fallen, but a new statement from the Buenos Aires Security Ministry confirms that the singer jumped from the third-floor balcony of his room at the Casa Sur Hotel in the Palermo neighbourhood.
How did Liam Payne die?
Pablo Policicchio, communications director for the Buenos Aires Security Ministry, provided this heart-wrenching update in a statement to the Associated Press (AP). Authorities received a distress call around 5 PM local time, alerting them about an “aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.” When police arrived at the scene, they found Liam with “extremely serious injuries.” Sadly, despite immediate medical assistance, the singer was declared dead on the spot.
A 911 call, obtained by AP, revealed the urgency of the situation. The hotel manager described Payne as “overwhelmed with drugs and alcohol” and reported that he was “destroying the entire room.” The autopsy is still underway to provide further clarity on the exact cause of death, but the incident has left fans and the music industry in shock.
