The special judge took the documents filed by the CBI on record and directed the central agency to submit the sanction by December 23, when the matter would be heard by the court, news agency PTI reported.

The CBI has alleged that during his tenure as the railway minister during the period between 2004-2009 Lalu Prasad Yadav indulged in corruption for appointment of Group D substitutes in Indian Railways. It has further alleged that the candidates were asked to transfer land as bribe in return for jobs in Indian Railways and that no advertisement or any public notice was issued for these appointments.

The CBI had registered the case on May 18, 2022 against Lalu Prasad Yadav and 15 others, including Rabri Devi, Lalu Prasad Yadav’s wife and former Bihar chief minister.
