New Delhi: The Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata was placed on high alert on Tuesday afternoon after an unidentified caller claimed there was a bomb on board an IndiGo flight bound for Mumbai. The flight, 6E5227, was scheduled to depart at 1:30 PM and land at 4:20 PM.
Officials reported that the call was made after the 195 passengers had already checked in. Following emergency protocols, all passengers were quickly asked to deplane and were safely escorted away from the aircraft, which was subsequently taken to an isolation bay for further investigation.
An airport official said, “Luggage has been unloaded from the aircraft. Bomb squad personnel are currently on board, scanning the aircraft for any threats.” In addition, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has heightened security measures throughout the airport area.
