‘Karnataka State RCB Fans Festival’: Fan writes letter to Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah, requests for a holiday if Bengaluru wins IPL 2025

New Delhi: RCB has defeated Punjab Kings by eight wickets in the first play-off and entered the final of IPL 2025 with a bang. The fans of Royal Challengers Bengaluru have been waiting for 18 years to see their favourite team lift the IPL trophy, and now, they are once again close to fulfilling that cherished and long-nurtured dream.

Now, an RCB fan has written a letter to Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah with a unique request. Shivananda Mallannavar, a young man from the Belagavi district’s Gokak, has written a heartfelt letter to CM Siddaramaiah. In the letter, he urged the CM to declare the day of RCB’s victory as the ‘RCB Fans’ Festival’ and grant a public holiday if the team clinches the title.

Shivananda, in his letter, requested the CM to officially recognise the day and celebrate it every year as a tribute to the loyal fanbase of the team. He compared the potential celebration to Karnataka Rajyotsava, one of the most important occasions in the state and suggested that festivities be held across everywhere in Karnataka to honour the monumental occasion.

What did the fan write in the letter?

In his letter, Shivananda wrote, “If the RCB team wins the IPL 2025 cup, the government should officially declare that day as the ‘Karnataka State RCB Fans Festival’ and give it a holiday every year. Because the long-held dream of RCB fans is about to come true, we request the Karnataka government to facilitate the celebration of the RCB Fans Festival in the same way as we celebrate Karnataka Rajyotsava in every district. We, on behalf of all RCB fans, request the Karnataka government to take this seriously and grant permission for the holiday and RCB Fans Festival.”

The letter has become viral on social media, with cricket lovers relating to the emotion of a fan. While the government is yet to give any official response, the move reflects the deep emotional bond fans share with the team. Meanwhile, a woman in the stands has become famous by holding a poster where she declared that she would divorce her husband if RCB failed to win the IPL trophy. She waited for the cameras to capture the bold message and became viral in no time.

RCB is just one step away from winning the title and making history. The IPL 2025 final will take place on June 3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and RCB will face the winner of Qualifier 2, which will take place on June 1 and will be played between Punjab and winner of the match between MI and GT.
