Srinagar: Sangrama Flyover, a key infrastructure project on Srinagar-Baramulla-Uri (SBU) National Highway, is set to be completed by Border Roads Organisation (BRO) in December.
This flyover will play a crucial role in improving transportation in Kashmir region, reducing travel time for commuters, freight, emergency services, and tourists visiting important destinations like Srinagar, Baramulla, Gulmarg, Sopore, and Uri.
Key benefits of flyover
Strategically located at the point where the highway bifurcates towards Sopore and Uri sector, the flyover will not only enhance civilian mobility but also hold significant strategic importance for defense logistics.
Uri is a key defense location, and efficient road infrastructure is essential for military personnel and materials to be quickly mobilized when needed. The new flyover will ensure that both military and civilian traffic can move smoothly, especially in times of national security concerns.
Sangrama Flyover has a 664-meter span RCC superstructure, consisting of three spans, each 90 meters long. Built at a cost of Rs 29.77 crore under Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) mode, it has been funded by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRT&H).
Flyover to improve traffic flow
The construction work has been completed by Project Beacon of the BRO. The flyover is designed with four-lane approach roads on both sides to improve traffic flow and ensure better connectivity in the area.
This project is part of the efforts by BRO to modernize and strengthen Jammu and Kashmir’s infrastructure. With the use of state-of-the-art technology and high-quality materials, the flyover is expected to provide long-term durability and resilience, especially considering the challenging terrain of the region.
