Srinagar: An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces on Thursday morning, in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district. The Jammu and Kashmir Police said that the encounter is currently ongoing in Singhpora area of Chatroo, in the district.
Terrorists trapped: Security forces
The encounter in Jammu and Kashmir comes nearly 2 weeks after India carried out anti-terror strikes, ‘Operation Sindoor’ against terrorist outfits in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. Though the 2 countries agreed to a ceasefire, India had said that the operation was still not over. The country has increased vigilance along the border, following the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22. The attack left 26 people dead. Vigilance was further increased following Operation Sindoor.
According to reports, at least 3-4 terrorists are trapped following the encounter. This operation comes just weeks after 3 terrorists were eliminated in an anti-terror operation in south Kashmir. The encounters last week were in the Keller area of Shopian and Nadar area of Tral in Pulwama. Apart from encounters, security forces have also targeted the houses of terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack. At least 3 terrorists involved in the attack had their houses destroyed post the attack.
