Kishtwar: The encounter which broke out between terrorists and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar on Thursday, continued on Friday. The encounter is currently ongoing in the Singhpora area of Chatroo. One soldier was killed in the operation.
Jammu and Kashmir police confirm gunfight
The operation is being led jointly by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Army. The White Knight Corps in a post on social media said, “During the ongoing operation, fierce gunfight is continuing. One of our Brave hearts sustained grievous injuries in the exchange of fire and has succumbed despite best medical efforts. Operation is in progress.”
The exchange of fire started early this morning, after security forces made contact with the terrorists. The Army identified the personnel killed in the gunfight as Sepoy Gaykar Sandip Pandurang. Rich tributes were paid to the soldier by Chief of White Knight Corps. The Army in a statement said that his sacrifice will inspire generations of soldiers.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police also confirmed the gunfight. IT said, “Exchange of fire started between Security Forces and terrorists in the Singhpora area of Chhatru in Kishtwar.”
The terror activities have increased ever since India conducted military strikes against Pakistan, code named ‘Operation Sindoor’. The operation was in response to the Pahalgam terror attack and targeted the terror launch pads in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. The Kishtwar encounter is the second encounter in 2 weeks in Kashmir. Earlier an encounter was reported from Awantipora, which led to the elimination of 3 terrorists.
