New Delhi: The former head constable in Punjab Police, Amandeep Kaur, widely known as ‘Instagram Queen’ and is called the ‘Thar wali constable’ for her flashy lifestyle, has been arrested in a case related to disproportionate assets.
Earlier this year, Kaur hit the headlines after being caught with heroin, and now she is facing more legal troubles. The authorities are pursuing a case against Kaur for allegedly having assets which are far more than her income sources.
In April 2025, Kaur was dismissed from service after she was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The police caught her with 17.71g heroin inside her Thar SUV during a routine check near Bathinda’s Badal flyover. The Anti-Narcotics Task Force conducted the operation along with local police. Kaur was taken into custody and her vehicle was impounded.
Becoming ‘Instagram Queen’
Kaur used to upload reels on Instagram wearing her police uniform when she was a serving officer, which violated social media conduct rulers of Punjab Police as it prohibits personnel from creating or sharing videos while being in uniform.
Her lavish lifestyle made Kaur popular, as she posted videos with branded handbags, designer attire, and even dressed her Shih Tzu pet dog in costly outfits. Her videos were accompanied by Punjabi songs, and some of them had lyrics mocking the police. She served the police for 14 years and was frequently transferred to complaints about disciplinary violations and misuse of social media. While her presence on Instagram made her a local celebrity, it is now being used as an evidence in the ongoing investigation into her assets and past contacts.
