New Delhi: People troubled by the scorching heat in Delhi and other northern states can expect some relief soon. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rain and thunderstorms in Delhi-NCR, UP, Bihar, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana over the next few days.
According to the IMD, Delhi and nearby areas will likely see strong winds, rain, and thunderstorms. This will bring some relief from the high temperatures and intense sun. The maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to drop slightly and hover around 40°C, while the minimum temperature could be around 28°C.

The weather department has forecast cloudiness, light to moderate rain, and cool winds for most of North India, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab. This change is expected to bring relief from the heat that has been troubling people for days.
The IMD has issued multiple alerts for different regions:
- Red alert in Punjab and Haryana: Due to continued high temperatures and expected thunderstorms over the next two days.
- Red alert in Rajasthan: Heavy rain and storm warnings due to changing weather.
- Orange alert in Eastern UP and Bihar: Heavy rainfall expected in many districts.
