New Delhi: Hours after joining the Congress party, several pictures of Gokul Setia with gangster Goldy Brar has surfaced. Setia is the grandson of five-time MLA from Haryana’s Sirsa Laxman Das Arora.
Setia joined the Congress Tuesday morning. He contested the 2019 Assembly elections in Haryana as Independent candidate but lost the polls with a narrow margin of 602 votes. Following his induction into the Congress, several photos of him with Gold Brar has been doing the rounds on social media.
What Gokul Setia said on viral photo
As the pictures went viral, Setia hit out at Sirsa MLA Gopal Kanda, clarifying that Goldy Brar and he studied in the same college and that photographs were of his student life. He said that he has no link with the gangster and that he was no longer in touch with him.
Canada-based gangster Satinderjit Singh alias Goldy Brar is the alleged mastermind of the murder of famous Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. Brar, a designated terrorist, has been involved in multiple killings and is also accused of smuggling of high-grade arms, ammunition and explosive materials through drones from across the border and supplying them for carrying out killings.
Setia probable candidate from Sirsa
In the upcoming Assembly polls in Haryana, Setia is likely to be fielded by the Congress from Sirsa constituency. Polling for the 90-member Assembly in Haryana is scheduled to be held on October 5 and counting of votes will be done on October 8.
