New Delhi: Social worker and journalist Bhim Singh Bhavesh of Bhojpur in Bihar was among those who was awarded the Padma Shri award. His name was announced for the honour ahead of Republic Day. Dr Bhavesh is in Delhi to attend the Republic Day parade.
Earlier, in the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme held in February 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had praised his work. Bhavesh had been working for the education and upliftment of the children of the Musahar community for two decades. Bhavesh has done extensive work for the people of the Musahar caste in Bhojpur and Buxar districts of Bihar.
Bhavesh’s impactful community work
The Musahar community is a backward community. Dr. Bhavesh had paid special attention to the education of the children of this community. He had enrolled thousands of children in school and had built a library, helping the children with their studies. His social work had brought happiness to the district, and people congratulated him for receiving the Padma Shri award.
Dr Bhavesh had helped thousands of Musahar children in Bhojpur district receive an education. He had been working to improve their lives for the last two decades. So far, he had enrolled more than eight thousand Musahar children in schools and had also built a large library. More than 125 children had received National Income cum Merit Scholarships from this library.
Diverse humanitarian efforts
Dr Bhavesh’s work was not limited to education. He had also made arrangements for the upbringing of about a hundred orphaned children. He helped them get their documents made and filled out forms. That apart, he had organised more than a hundred medical camps and had helped people during the Corona epidemic.
