Home Minister Amit Shah meets Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, police commissioner at MHA

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is chairing a key meeting on the national capital’s security on Friday with Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, minister Ashish Sood and senior police officials including the police commissioner and all special commissioners at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

The meeting is scheduled to take place at 11 am. Sources say the home minister is likely to discuss the issue of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in Delhi during the meeting.

This marks the first time since Sheila Dikshit’s tenure that such a meeting involving Delhi’s chief minister, home minister, and the police has been held at the Home Ministry.

According to sources, the meeting aims to strengthen coordination between the Delhi government and Delhi Police. Discussions will also focus on enhancing the law and order situation in the capital and ensuring better collaboration between the two authorities.

Bureaucratic shuffle in Delhi

In the first significant bureaucratic reshuffle under the new BJP-led government in Delhi, 2008-batch IAS officer Madhu Rani Teotia was appointed as Secretary to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday.

The reshuffle was carried out by the Services Department under the supervision of Lt Governor VK Saxena.

Teotia previously served as the Additional Chief Executive Officer at the National Health Authority under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

According to a transfer order issued by the Delhi government’s Services Department, 2011-batch AGMUT cadre IAS officers Sandeep Kumar Singh and Ravi Jha have been appointed as Special Secretaries to the Chief Minister.

Jha currently holds the position of Excise Commissioner of Delhi, while Singh, who is posted outside Delhi, will join the state administration after serving as the Private Secretary to the Union Minister for Culture and Tourism.
