New Delhi: Normal life likely to remain affected in parts of Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir on March 1 as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted continued snowfall both regions. It also predicted rains in other parts of the Himachal
Both Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh have continued to receive heavy snowfall since last few days leading to several roads being closed and affecting vehicular traffic as well. The authorities have also closed schools and colleges in some parts of the state.’
Snowfall likely to continue in parts of Himachal
“Light to moderate snowfall/rain with one or two heavy spells over some parts of Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur and over the higher reaches of Mandi, Kullu, Shimla, Chamba and Sirmaur districts,” the IMD said in a press release. It also predicted light to moderate rainfall in several districts of Himachal Pradesh including Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Kangra and Solan.
The IMD added, “Light rain/snow likely at isolated places on March 1 and March 2 and at few places over the state on March 4. Light to moderate rain/snow very likely at many places over the
state on Mar h 3 2025. Light rain/snow likely Dry weather likely over the state on March 5 and 6.
Weather department continuing snowfall in Kashmir
Apart from Himachal Pradesh, parts of Kashmir may also continue to witness snowfall as the weather department predicted a maximumum of -28 degree celsius and minimum of -14 degree celsius. For Snday, the weather department predicted the minimum temperature of -12 and maximum of -28 in the region
Earlier on Friday, heavy snowfall and rain in Himachal Pradesh lead to heavy landslides resulting in the blockage of 583 roads and five national highways disrupting normal life. While 165 roads were closed in 165 in Lahaul and Spiti, 125 were closed in Chamba, and 112 in Kullu. Apart from these, 2,263 transformers and 279 water supply schemes were also disrupted in the state.
