New Delhi: India’s Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, has delivered a resounding endorsement of the Indian Armed Forces following the successful completion of Operation Sindoor. Speaking at a national quality conclave focused on fast-tracking quality assurance in defence production, Singh lauded the operation as a remarkable display of precision, accuracy, and technological advancement.
Operation Sindoor, the Minister explained, resulted in the neutralisation of nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and PoK, with a significant number of terrorists killed. Critically, the operation was conducted with minimal collateral damage, a testament to both the skill of the armed forces and the quality of their equipment. Singh specifically highlighted the operational success in thwarting a Pakistani attempt to launch drone-missile strikes targeting 15 Indian cities, further underscoring the effectiveness of India’s defensive capabilities.
Singh’s address at the quality conclave provided a broader context for the operational success. He underscored the Indian government’s commitment to defence sovereignty and self-reliance, citing the corporatization of ordnance factories as a crucial step towards improving the quality and competitiveness of indigenous defence production. This initiative, Singh argued, is not merely about quantity but equally about achieving international standards of quality in military equipment.
The Minister’s remarks reflected the government’s broader strategy to enhance the defence production sector. This includes fostering a healthy, competitive private defence ecosystem alongside the existing public sector undertakings (PSUs). The aim is to ensure that India’s security needs are met through the development and deployment of high-quality, domestically produced military technology. The success of Operation Sindoor, therefore, serves as a powerful illustration of this strategy’s effectiveness and reinforces the government’s commitment to ensuring India’s defence preparedness.
