Haryana Assembly Election 2024: Savitri Jindal, India’s richest woman, leading in Hisar

New Delhi: Savitri Jindal, India’s ‘richest woman’, is leading from Haryana’s Hisar assembly constituency, according to early trends. Jindal is the poll fray as an independent candidate. She is contesting against Bharatiya Janata Party’s Kamal Gupta. Gupta was elected to the Haryana Legislative Assembly from Hisar in the 2014 and 2019 Haryana Legislative Assembly election.

Savitri Jindal, who earlier held the Hisar seat on a Congress ticket from 2005 to 2013, entered the poll fray to raise the “voice of the people of Hisar in the assembly”. She is the mother of BJP’s Kurukshetra MP Naveen Jindal. The Jindal Group chairperson emeritus is contesting as an independent from Hisar after she couldn’t get a BJP ticket. She had joined the BJP in March.

While filing her nomination, Savitri Jindal had told PTI, “People of Hisar are my family and it is they who wanted me to contest.”
