New Delhi: Was Jyoti Malhotra planning to get married in Pakistan just to become popular on social media and gain more likes? This question is doing the rounds after purported conversation between travel vlogger and YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra and a Pakistani intelligence officer surfaced. The purported chat on WhatsApp also highlights the Jyoti’s link with Pakistan, as the police continue to investigate the YouTuber for allegedly spying for the neighbouring country.
The chat has been recovered from Jyoti’s phone, where she was apparently messaging her ISI handler Hasan Ali. In the conversation, she tells Hasan Ali, “Get me married in Pakistan.”
Perhaps, Jyoti believed that if she married a Pakistani YouTuber or another well-known personality from Pakistan, her social media reach would shoot up overnight. She thought this would make her highly popular across platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook, significantly boosting her fan following.
Here’s an excerpt from Jyoti’s purported chat with Hasan Ali:
Hasan Ali: “Jo yaar, mere dil se dua nikalti hai hamesha ki aap khush raho. Aap hamesha hanste-khelte raho, jeevan mein kabhi koi gham nahi aayega.” (“Dear, I always pray from my heart for your happiness. May you always stay cheerful and never face sorrow in life.”)
To this, Jyoti replied with a laughing emoji and said: “Pakistan mein shaddi karwa do meri” (“Get me married in Pakistan”).
Sources indicate that Jyoti was in constant contact with Ali Hasan. The two were said to be in frequent communication. Reports also suggest that the WhatsApp chats also contained several coded exchanges between the two, particularly concerning covert operations in India.
Key revelations from interrogation of Jyoti
It also came to fore from her interrogation that before the Pahalgam attack, Jyoti had visited Pahalgam during her trip to Kashmir. During this time, she recorded several videos in Pahalgam, but never uploaded them to her YouTube channel. Probing agencies suspect that Jyoti may have recorded strategic videos of Pahalgam and shared them with the ISI. However, she has not admitted to this during interrogation so far.
Forensic analysis of her mobile phone has revealed sensitive information and videos related to the Indian Army. A huge money transaction from Dubai has also been found in Jyoti’s bank account. A YouTuber from Jammu and Kashmir is also under the scanner, as Jyoti is believed to have introduced him to ISI handlers.
During and even after Operation Sindoor, Jyoti was in regular contact with Danish, an employee at the Pakistani Embassy. She shared various details with him, including information about the blackout and several media reports. However, she later deleted all of these chats.
An examination of Jyoti’s phone has revealed that she sent videos, along with location details, of the Golden Temple in Amritsar and several tourist spots in Kashmir to Pakistani agents through encrypted mobile apps like WhatsApp, Snapchat, and Telegram.
The NIA team has found a specific pattern in the videos Jyoti recorded at strategic locations. Instead of providing general information about the locations, her videos primarily focused on security arrangements, particularly in areas near the border.
