Armed forces carried out measured, non-escalatory strike: Vikram Misri

Addressing a press conference earlier in the day, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that the Indian armed forces carried out “measured, non-escalatory, proportionate, and responsible” strike to destroy terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan.

He added that the government felt it necessary that the perpetrators of the Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 people were killed and several others were injured, be brought to justice. “Our intelligence monitoring of Pakistan-based terrorist modules indicated that further attacks against India were impending,” he said.

“Earlier this morning, as you would be aware, India exercised its right to respond and pre-empt as well as deter more such cross-border attacks,” he added as per PTI.

“These actions were measured, non-escalatory, proportionate, and responsible. They focused on dismantling the terrorist infrastructure and disabling terrorists likely to be sent across to India,” the foreign secretary said. Following the airstrike, the PM Modi held a meeting of the Union cabinet and praised the efforts of the armed forces in conducting the strike.
