Kolkata: The Vande Bharat Express is arguably the most luxurious train for the common people in India. But for the passengers of Vande Bharat Express (22415), the journey on June 23 turned out to be a nightmarish one. Among them was Darshil Mishra, a student of physical therapy in his final year.
Darshil was travelling from Varanasi to Delhi in the C7 coach when he and other passengers faced an unexpected problem. All of a sudden, water began to fall from the train’s roof, creating a massive problem for the passengers.
Darshil said, “My tablet, trousers, and other passengers were completely drenched. “It was an eight-hour ordeal. To prevent the downpour, the onboard staff switched off the AC around my berth, which was next to the entry door of the coach. Now, I and other passengers were not only drenched but continued the uncomfortable journey amid humid conditions.”

When Darshil informed the onboard railway staff about the issue, the personnel of the Railway Protection Force simply told him “Adjust kijiye”. Moreover, the Train Ticket Examiner (TTE) never came to address the problem, as water poured inside the coach throughout the journey. Darshil captured the video, which has become viral on social media and netizens have expressed their anger at the Indian Railways.
Darshil, who filed a complaint in the consumer forum for a refund, said, “The Vande Bharat Express, touted as a symbol of modern rail travel in India, promises comfort and efficiency. However, this incident highlights serious maintenance lapses that undermine its reputation.”
Many people on social media slammed the railways. The incident has once again brought forth the need for accountability and improved service standards. While the railways are yet to address the incident, the apparent lack of maintenance of the coaches has made people worried.
