New Delhi: Amid the controversy over Rahul Gandhi’s unannounced visit to the Delhi University office on Thursday, the National Student Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Congress, said that the student union’s president and the joint secretary has the right to call anybody as DUSU is a democratic voice of students.
Sharing a message on X, NSUI national president Varun Choudhary, “Delhi University administration must not forget that DUSU is not merely a student union — it is the democratic voice of the entire student community. The DUSU President and Joint Secretary have the right to invite any speaker or leader to the DUSU office. So why is there fear when the DUSU President and Joint Secretary invite the Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, to the DUSU office?”

DU notice reflects pressure from RSS and BJP
“Unfortunately, the kind of notice issued by the Delhi University administration reflects that it is operating under pressure from the RSS and the BJP. The real question is: who is afraid of Rahul Gandhi Ji’s visit? Is it fear of the questions students may ask? Or is it fear that Rahul Gandhi Ji, through direct dialogue, may empower and awaken the youth? If this fear is not yours, then say it clearly — whose fear is it? Is it the RSS’s? The BJP’s?” he added.
Earlier on Thursday, the Delhi University objected to Rahul Gandhi’s unannounced visit, calling it a breach of institutional protocol. “The DUSU office was cordoned off by security cover and no one was allowed to enter,” it said, noting that the DUSU secretary was also barred from accessing her office. “Some students were locked in the room of the secretary, DUSU, and were misbehaved with by NSUI students,” it said in a statement.
