Do Patti review: Kriti Sanon, Kajol thriller has no mystery or thrill

New Delhi: Right from the start, the film tries to create a cloud of mystery but it fails to grip the audience. The mystery thriller dropped on Netflix on October 25. The much-anticipated film was released in a digital space and thank god for that as the film would have been unbearable on the big screen.

The film, as promised to be a roller-coaster ride with enough juice in it, was not able to keep the flow of the narrative and in the middle of the screenplay, you can feel the scenes breaking, making absolutely no sense. This is also surprising, considering that Kanika Dhillon has given a movie, Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba.

Do Patti review

Do Patti revolves around two sisters – Saumya and Shailee (both played by Kriti Sanon). While one sister is married, the other one returns with the motive to snatch away everything good from her, even her love Dhruv (played by Shaheer Sheikh). But, the film takes a twist when Saumya accuses her husband Dhruv. Enters local cop Vidya Jyoti (played by Kajol) who investigates the case. The case unravels Dhruv’s real personality and his bad anger issues (One calls it a version of Kabir Singh). The film is based on the theme of domestic violence but gets absurd by the end of it.

The screenplay of the movie is weak, the characters lack depth, and the climax is disappointing. More than the mystery thriller, it seemed more of a musical with back-to-back songs, disrupting the narrative of the film. The music of the film is also easily forgettable. However, the background score is still good in comparison to other elements of the film but fails to deliver as promised.

Do Patti lacks the wow factor in it and in the last 30 minutes, the film falls completely flat, making you feel that the makers are now just stretching the narrative just for the sake of it.

Do Patti performances

Kriti Sanon as Saumya and Shailee is absolutely brilliant. The actress proved that she could play the girl next door and even play a traditional woman or the role of a villain with an ace. Her performance is one of the highlights of the film.

Talking about Kajol, her accent was completely off and it seemed that she couldn’t get into the skin of her character. Do Patti could be rated Kajol’s worst performance so far when so much more is expected from an ace actress like her. On the other hand, Shaheer Sheikh did a decent job and channelled his character well to the audience.

Do Patti conclusion

In conclusion, watch the movie for Kriti Sanon, alone. The film lacks the thrill or any mystery element, giving the audience a boring narrative but tolerable for an OTT watch.
