New Delhi: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday hit out at Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, accusing him and his party of deliberately disrupting Parliament instead of engaging in constructive debate.

“In every Parliament session, the agenda of Congress and Rahul Gandhi remains the same — creating chaos, noise, spreading lies, and violating democratic norms,” Pradhan said, calling Gandhi’s recent statements “an insult to the democratic values of Parliament.”

Responding to Gandhi’s charge that the opposition is not allowed to speak in Parliament, Pradhan said, “That is not only the biggest lie but also an insult to the institution. No one, whether it is Rahul Gandhi or any other opposition leader, has ever been stopped from speaking.”

He claimed the government has always been open to discussions on national issues, but alleged that certain leaders only want to create disruptions and mislead the public. “Parliament is not a platform for fulfilling the personal interests of Congress, and the Congress party needs to understand this. Rahul Gandhi’s lie shows that his real objective is not to discuss any issue but to stubbornly engage in spiteful politics on every matter,” he said.

The Monsoon Session of Parliament began on Monday, July 21, with noisy scenes in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Congress leaders Manickam Tagore and Randeep Surjewala gave notices to discuss the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the media before the session started. The government had earlier said it was ready to discuss Operation Sindoor and respond to US President Trump’s claim of mediating between India and Pakistan. Congress also demanded answers on security lapses, Trump’s remarks, and the voter roll revision in Bihar, saying these raise concerns about India’s dignity and democracy.
