Novak Djokovic announces shock withdrawal from ATP Finals, ends 2024 season

New Delhi: Serbian giant Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from the season-ending ATP Finals putting an end to the 2024 season. The 24-time Grand Slam champion announced on Tuesday that he took this decision because of an ongoing injury. Earlier, the 37-year-old had also withdrawn from the Paris Masters, which was won by world number two Alexander Zverev.

The Serbian ace, who bagged his first Olympic gold medal at the Paris Games 2024 in August, won last year’s ATP Finals title by defeating two-time Grand Slam winner Jannik Sinner in the final. The tennis star took to social media handle Instagram to confirm his decision.

“I was really looking forward to being there, but due to ongoing injury I won’t be playing next week,” Djokovic posted on his Instagram Story. “Apologies to those who were planning to see me. Wishing all the players a great tournament. See you soon!”
