The demonstrators, including pro-Hindu activists, Kannada activists, BJP supporters, and Dharmasthala devotees, voiced their anger over alleged derogatory remarks and misinformation about the temple town. The controversy is linked to the ongoing investigation into the mass burial case.

In Kalaburagi, the protest was led by former BJP MLA Dattatreya Patil, who took out a rally from Jagat Circle to the DC’s office after paying homage at the Basavanna statue. The dissenters are demanding action against YouTubers over the misleading content.

Support for Dharmadhikari

Protestors across the state submitted memorandums to the government, declaring, “We stand with Dharmasthala and its Dharmadhikari.”

In Mysuru, thousands of women devotees staged a march from Old Dairy Circle to the DC’s office with placards backing Dharmadhikari Veerendra Heggade. Protesters called for transparency in the Special Investigation Team’s inquiry, better protection for Hindu temples, and accountability for those defaming the shrine.

Karnataka stands united in protest

In Koppal, thousands of women, including several Muslims, marched from Ishwar Park to the Deputy Commissioner’s office. The protesting women were joined by a differently-abled Muslim man in a wheelchair. They demanded strict measures against those circulating false propaganda.

In Chikkamagaluru, more than 2,000 devotees took part in a two-kilometre march from the Taluk Office to Azad Park, chanting devotional songs and beating drums. Hundreds of women joined, denouncing what they saw as an organised attempt to tarnish Dharmasthala’s reputation.

In Yadgir, members of the Dharmasthala Devotees Forum held a rally from Subhash Circle to the DC’s office, urging firm action against Girish Mattannavar, Mahesh Thimmaroddi, and YouTuber Sameer for alleged defamation of the shrine.

Dharmasthala probe update

Meanwhile, investigators used Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) at Point No. 13 as part of the exhumation process but found no human remains. Excavators were later brought in, with officials suspecting that the dam construction soil may be covering the site. Water seepage was being pumped out as digging continued.
