Designer Ratul Sood dies at 58 in Kolkata following heart attack

New Delhi: Sending shockwaves across the showbiz arena, Ratul Sood breathed his last on Sunday (October 27, 2024). The renowned fashion icon was a prominent menswear designer based in Kolkata. He was reportedly 58 years old at the time of his sudden demise.

According to a telegraphindia.com report, Ratul passed away following a heart attack while playing golf at a city club around 11:30 am. He was immediately rushed to nearby MR Bangur Hospital. However, upon medical examination by the staff, he was declared dead on arrival.

The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) took to Instagram on Monday (October 28, 2024) to mourn his passing. It dubbed Ratul a visionary fashion designer whose creativity and passion inspired many. Recalling Ratul for his kindness, warmth and laughter, FDCI wrote that they were deeply saddened by the loss of Ratul Sood. “He will be missed dearly, and his memory will forever remain in our hearts,” the post read.

Netizens mourn Ratul Sood’s death

Ratul is survived by his wife Komal and their children. The much-in-love couple, over the years, blessed the fashion industry with numerous fashionable outfits for men.

As soon as news of Ratul’s death surfaced online, fans started flooding social media with messages of condolences. “Farewell, Ratul. You were such a gentleman and a great human being! You will be missed tremendously by the fashion fraternity! My condolences to Komal, the family and children, and the Burlingtons Kolkata group,” a netizen posted on X (formerly known as Twitter). Another wrote, “RIP Ratul! Unbelievable. A great guy gone too soon!”
